ABOUT THIS BACK STRAP LOOMED MEXICAN TEXTILE

Oaxacan Caracol púrpura or purple snail is one of the most valued dyes in the world. It is collected by only a few men authorized by the government and weaved by indigenous women from the Oaxacan Coast. This is a splendid sample of purple snail dyed textiles. It was crafted using the pre columbian back strap loom technique and is 100% cotton.

The textile beautifully displays a nativity scene with the sacred family. The sun & the moon are on top

The rest of the piece is confectioned with farm  animals.

This textile is so beautiful that an be framed. It can also be used as a table runner or a home decor accent.
