This exclusive Tonala burnished clay canelo pottery piece was created by Mexican folk art master Pablo Pajarito, one of the most renowned artists from Jalisco. He has received many awards and his work belongs to the most important museums and private collections of Mexican folk art.

The pot depicts Mexico's coat of arms beautifully hand painted and a Rabbit on the other side. Pablo is heir of the renowned Nicasio Pajarito and his pieces belong to the most important collections and museums of folk art such as Mexico’s National ceramics museum.

The speciality of Pajarito family is “barro canelo”; a type of clay that is painted using only mineral pigments from the soil of Tonala. Such pigments give a particular reddish tone to the piece.

Tonalá is a small city outside of Guadalajara in the Mexican state of Jalisco, where potters combine ancient and modern techniques to create a regional tradition that is taught from one generation to the next since pre-Columbian times. The Pajarito family is doubtlessly the most important producer of barro canelo.
