Mexican Cotton Shawl from Oaxaca Yellow & Red Textile
ABOUT THIS MEXICAN TEXTILE
Mexican Shawls are Rebozos. This beautiful cotton rebozo was loomed with love by indigenous Zapotec artisans from Oaxaca, using the ancient technique of pedal loom. Rebozos can be used as shawls, scarfs or even as a home decor detail such as table runners or bed throws. This piece is 95% cotton with a bit of rayon that adds a special beige glitter to the geometrical pattern that decors the shawl. Although the predominant colour is yellow, the whole piece has interlaced red cotton threads, that add rhythm and movement to the rebozo. At the bottom, hand woven yellow & red cotton tassels add the final touch to the fringe.
