Wool Purse Mexican Bag Backstrap Loomed in Chiapas
ABOUT THIS MEXICAN TEXTILE
This one of a kind outstanding textile was loomed by Tzeltal indigenous woman from the state of Chiapas. At our gallery we have a fine selection of the best Indigenous folk art for sale. The backstrap loom technique dates back to pre hispanic times. To create each piece the artisan straps one end of the loom to her waist and the other to a tree to create tension and using her hands and simple wood instruments they create these outstanding textiles.
