White Silk Shawl Mexican Rebozo Backstrap Loomed Indigenous Textile from Oaxaca
ABOUT THIS BACK STRAP LOOMED INDIGENOUS TEXTILEThis rebozo (shawl) is an authentic Haute Couture Mexican Indigenous Textile, hand crafted from the finest silk harvested in Oaxaca, Mexico by Zapotec artists.
The piece has the texture of hand crafted silk, which is soft and light to the touch but quite different from industrialized silk products.
The fringe is completely hand knotted and the technique used to elaborate the textile is the pre columbian back strap loom.
As you may see on the pictures, the color has a subtle beige tint that adds character and style to the fabric.
Making each shawl takes years of knowledge and weeks of dedication. With your shopping you support the work of indigenous families, with whom we work directly on a fair trade basis.
