ABOUT THIS TONALA BRUNISHED CLAY DISH
This exclusive Tonalá burnished clay pottery piece was created by Mexican folk art master Salvador Vásquez Jr, member of the renowned Vazquez family.He learned his craft from Salvador Vazquez Senior, a legend of Mexican Folk art. As you may appreciate on this miniature dish, his craft is delicate and meticulous. He has developed his own style and his pieces have won many awards and prizes. Having at least one piece crafted by the Vazquez family is a must for collectors.
Tonalá is a small city outside of Guadalajara in the Mexican state of Jalisco, where potters combine ancient and modern techniques to create a regional tradition that is taught from one generation to the next since pre-Columbian times.
