He has received many awards and his pieces belong to the most important museums and private collections of Mexican folk art.

Mr. Cortés is part of the millenary tradition of craftsmen from Tonalá, a small city in the Mexican state of Jalisco, where potters combine ancient and modern techniques to create outstanding ceramic items.
