Mexican Textile Bedspread or Shawl Fine Indigenous Art Black & Colorful Fringe
ABOUT THIS BACK STRAP LOOMED INDIGENOUS TEXTILE
This rebozo (shawl) is an authentic Haute Couture Mexican Indigenous Textile. It can be used either as a garment or as a table runner or bedspread. It was crafted by Purépecha Indigenous People from Michoacán, Mexico using the pre columbian back strap loom technique.
The black fabric is 100% cotton and the hand knotted fringe is rayon with a silky & shinny texture. The contrast between the black fabric & the colorful fringe is outstanding, and the movement of the garment mesmerizing.
Making each shawl takes years of knowledge and weeks of dedication. With your shopping you support the work of indigenous families, with whom we work directly on a fair trade basis.
