Mexican Masks w Parachicos Dancer Painting on Nacre Mother of Pearl
ABOUT THIS MOTHER OF PEARL
INLAY NACRE PAINTING
This nacre painting is doubtlessly a great piece for lovers of Mexican traditions, Mexican masks and dances in particular. It is a painting on mother of pearl masterfully achieved.
It displays a traditional dancer of the Danza de los Parachicos from Chiapas with its characteristic mask and accessories as main figure. Both legs of his costume are decorated with images of the Virgin of Guadalupe, surrounded by flowers. This figure also wears a multi coloured cape. Behind this main figure we can see many of the traditional mexican dances masks. The frame is delicately decorated with red leafs and dark branches that create a beautiful contrast with the natural tones of the mother of pearl.
When lit, mother of pearl (combined with the beautiful painting) creates a magic iridiscent sheen that adds a special mystical touch to the experience of contemplating such image.
