Black Feathered Mexican Backstrap Loomed Indigenous Shawl from Ahuiran
ABOUT THIS WAIST LOOMED TEXTILE
Mexican shawls are Rebozos; one of the most important folk art indigenous textile traditions. This Rebozo is black on black. It has a very subtle striped pattern and the fringe is finished with hand knotted black feathers. An Haute Couture Piece back strap loomed by Purépecha Indigenous women from Ahuirán Mexico, a town in the state of Michoacan where women weave these amazing shawls using the pre hispanic back strap loom technique.
The rebozo can be used not only as a shawl or wrap, but also as a table runner or bed spread.
Making each shawl takes years of knowledge and days of dedication. With your shopping you support the work of indigenous families, with whom we work directly on a fair trade basis.
