ABOUT THIS MEXICAN POTTERY PIECE

This umbrella stand with St Raphael Archangel is a fine sample of Majolica Mexican Pottery from Guanajuato, Mexico.

A unique item with a delicate, traditional and collorful design of an umbrella stand. Made by the skilled hands of the Aguilera Family on their Santa Rosa Workshop. Hand painted. its motifs are inspired on Mexican Colonial Designs, having Saint Raphael Archangel as the main Character. The color pallete, the brushstrokes, the detail of the ornaments, gives a depth and lordly sight. The majolica technique was brought to Mexico during the colonization Period, about 460 years ago; being the state of Guanajuato and Puebla , the main producers of high quality and traditional designs of ceramics since then.
