Yellow & Brown Cotton Shawl w Feathers Mexican Indigenous Textile Art

ABOUT THIS BACK STRAP LOOMED INDIGENOUS TEXTILE

This rebozo (shawl) is a Jewel of Mexican Indigenous Textile Art!  It was all dyed with natural pigments. The yellow tones are from dandelion and the brown from nut shell. The fabric was made using the pre columbian back strap loom technique and the  feathers are all hand knotted. A stripe of synthetic silk was added to the borders. This creates an elegant sheen effect. 

An authentic Haute Couture ethnic piece of art! made by Purépecha indigenous people from Michoacán, México. 

 The piece can be used not only as a garment but also as a home decor accent such as a table runner or bedspread.
