ABOUT THIS WAIST LOOMED TEXTILE

Mexican shawls are Rebozos; one of the most important folk art indigenous textile traditions. This Cotton rebozo with feathered fringe is one of the most elegant pieces we have had. The fabric is 100% cotton and was crafted on a back strap loom it has a subtle striped white on white texture. The fringe has two layers of rayon silk and Guinea Fowl feathers.

An Haute Couture textile crafted by Purépecha indigenous women in Ahuiran, a town in the state of Michoacan where women weave these amazing shawls using the pre hispanic back strap loom technique.

The rebozo can be used not only as a shawl or wrap, but also as a table runner or bed spread.

Making each shawl takes years of knowledge and days of dedication. With your shopping you support the work of indigenous families, with whom we work directly on a fair trade basis.
