ABOUT THIS MEXICAN INDIGENOUS TEXTILE
This lovely collectors item was embroidered by Mazahua indigenous woman. The whole piece is decorated with their characteristic imagery. It beautifully displays a star shaped geometric pattern with flowers, birds and the tree of life. Mazahua indigenous people live in the state of Mexico and Michoacán. Mazahua means in Náhuatl "people of the deer", which is considered to be a sacred animal.
